Villa Matilde Aglianico Rosso, Rocca Dei Leoni IGT comes from the Avallones’ Rocca dei Leoni property, located in Benevento’s inland area, on the slopes of Mount Taburno. Vineyards cover 74 acres in the communes of Torrecuso, Foglianise and Ponte, and are characterized by excellent hillside exposures, steep slopes, volcanic soil rich in phosphorus and potassium, and very old vines of Aglianico from different clones to those of Villa Matilde proper.
Vinification: The grapes are hand harvested and fermented (after the crushing and the maceration) at a temperature of 26°C for about 20 days. The wine is then aged in stainless steel tanks for about 6 months.
Tasting Notes: Brilliant ruby with purple hues. On the nose there are distinctive, elegant, intense and persistent aromas, reminiscent of spices, blackberries, ripe red fruit. The palate gives a full, rich and velvety taste with well balanced tannins.
