Description

Pietracupa was founded in 1990 and is situated in Montefredane, near Avellino, a mountainous terrain where elevation is key in producing wines with great character. Here the young and talented Sabino “Sammy Bruno” Loffredo quickly gained a reputation within Italy and abroad, for some of the best Greco and Fiano wines around. Pietracupa wines represent his style and his idea of the wine world. He is one of the most successful examples of how a small producer can produce great wines that also have wonderful ageing potential and become magnificently complex in the bottle.

Greco by Pietracupa has a light, bright and intense straw yellow colour. An exemplary & complex tapestry of rare and delicate aromas: hedgerow, nectarines, kumquats, ferns, sage, white pepper and ginger. In contrast to the gentle nose, the palate has few rivals for flavour and energy with an overwhelming savoury-acid grip. Its long trajectory ends in an irrepressible glow of citron and white peaches.

Grape Variety: Greco

Food pairing: The best way to pair Greco by Pietracupa is with fish recipes. Try it with foil-baked sea bream.

When to drink: Wine is good to drink now, but  can easily leave it in your cellar for 2-3 years.

Awards & Comments of Pietracupa Greco :  ‘’The textbook Greco di Tufo, and my choice year in and year out as Italy’s best white wine. Unparalleled minerality and varietal purity.” Tom Hyland, Best Italian Wines Of The Year, Forbes (December 2018)

(Greco 2018)  “Tre Bicchieri” prize, Guida Vini d’Italia 2018, Gambero Rosso
