Description

Among vines and rocks rising vertically over the sea of Furore, we find Cantine Marisa Cuomo

Marisa Cuomo Furore Rosso DOC colour is a deep red with ruby highlights. This amazing wine offers an intense nose of black fruits, leather, and game, followed by ripe cherries and liquorice.

The taste is well balanced with pleasing spice undertones.

Grape Varieties: 50% Aglianico, 50% Piedirosso

Vineyard: Located in Furore on the famed Amalfi Coast, Marisa Cuomo’s coastal vineyards are perfectly arranged on the stone-walled terraces along the cliffs at altitudes between 1000 to 1300 feet above sea level. Since 1980, the year in which the winegrowing estate was established, Cantine Marisa Cuomo has belonged to Andrea Ferraioli and Marisa Cuomo, and it occupies an area of 10 hectares. Andrea Ferraioli and Marisa Cuomo, with oenologist Luigi Moio and the estate’s winegrowers, decided to focus on quality to stand out from the crowd in the Italian oenology sector, with wines with a taste that is just as unique and extraordinary as the Furore coast. In a location like Furore, which is so characteristic yet extreme at the same time, care for the vines and grapes is carried out entirely by hand. In close contact with nature, Cantine Marisa Cuomo experiments techniques to steal land from the rock, building pergolas to support the vines and strictly selecting the best cultivation methods and only noble grape varieties.

The grapes benefit from a sunny southern exposure and a unique micro-climate that occurs from a combination of ocean currents, mountains and high-pressure systems. The volcanic and alluvial soils of the vineyards produce relatively low yields, and the grapes produce powerful and intense wines.

Soil: Dolomitic-calcareous rocks

Harvest: Mid-October by hand

Grape Yield Per Hectare: 8.0 Tonnes

Vinification: The grapes are hand-picked and after de-stemming and crushing are subjected to fermentation for a period of 12 days followed by malolactic fermentation. They are then aged in new French oak barriques for 6 months before bottling.

Matches With: This aristocratic wine serves well with pastas with rich sauces, roasted leg of lamb, seared beef tenderloin with mustard, spiced pork tenderloin and braised shallots and/or aged cheeses.

Alcohol Content: 13.5%
