Description

Fiano is an ancient grape of Roman origins, and was named ‘latin’ to distinguish it from the grapes of Greek origins. Its name has evolved from its original name Apianus or Apiane, which in turn is linked to the ancient latin word for ‘bee’, as bees were fond of these grapes which ripened well and contained substantial amounts of sugar.

Grape Variety: 100% Fiano Di Avellino

Vinification: It is a vine that grows well both in volcanic soils and clay soils. The vineyards are south-east facing at 400 metres above sea level and the vines are around 10 years old. The grapes are harvested at the end of October and after fermentation, they spend 3 months on the lees in stainless steel tanks, before further refining in bottle.

Tasting Notes: This golden yellow Fiano boasts a lovely complexity of aromas with both fresh and spicier notes of apricot, orange peel, linden flowers, acacia and honey. This is also a typical Fiano: hint of hazelnuts on the palate and finish. A bright acidity refreshes the ripe fruit flavours and keeps the soft, round mouthfeel in balance.

Matches With: An ideal match with fish dishes, pasta with shellfish, vegetable risotto, white meats and mozzarella di bufala.

Alcohol: 13%
