Description
Sirica is an ancient grape variety which was thought to have been lost, but 4 vines were discovered by Feudi di San Gregorio in Irpinia. It is genetically linked to Syrah, Teroldego and Refosco.
Grape variety: Sirica
Soil: Deep with a moderately coarse texture, not calcareous, originating from falling ash and pumice.
Vinification: Alcoholic fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks for about 3 weeks. 12 Months maturation in medium-toasted French oak barriques. Aged for a minimum of 9 months in the bottle.
Tasting notes: In the glass, ruby red in colour. In the mouth hints of crushed raspberries and cloves. Fresh and soft taste, spicy, with good structure and persistence in the mouth. Sweet, non-astringent tannins.
Alcohol: 13.5%
Ideal with: Red meats, tomato based dishes.
Allergens: Contains sulphites.
