DUBL Greco. In 2003, Feudi di San Gregorio invested in the production of its first sparkling product. Using the method champenoise and the region’s historic varietals of Falanghina, Greco di Tufo and Aglianico grapes, Feudi produced this new innovative product, DUBL. The wines are named DUBL in honour of the two wineries that worked on this project: Feudi and their French partner, the great Champagne house of Anselme Selosse.

Joining forces with famed Champagne producer Anselme Selosse was a natural union for these unique and high end wines. DUBL is Feudi’s new journey into the future of sparkling wines. The tradition of Greco Brut stems from the occupation of Naples by Louis XII in the 15th century, who demanded that the Neapolitans made a sparkling wine in his honour (he was from Champagne after all). The local winemakers selected Greco as the suitable grape for this task given the tartness of the grape reminiscent of the Chardonnay of Champagne and the chalky composition of the Tufo soil, similar to the ‘terroir’ encountered in Reims.

Production Area: Campania

Grape Variety: 100% Greco Di Tufo

Vinification: Produced using the traditional champenoise method, (a technique in which the wine is fermented a second time, transforming a still wine into sparkling – happens in the bottle, through the addition of sugar and yeast with a second fermentation occurring in the bottle). DUBL Greco spends 24 months on the lees.

Colour: Vivid yellow with a fine ‘perlage’.

Bouquet: Aromas of ginger, flowers and a hint of nuts with delicate notes of hay and toast.

Taste: In the mouth full, voluminous, fresh taste with an attractive bitter chestnut, honey and impressively persistent mineral aftertaste.

Alcohol: 12%

Serving Suggestions: Particularly suitable with sushi, lobster, fried calamari or shellfish risotto. Serve at 10°С

Frittura Di Calamari E Scampi-Fried Squid Rings & Scampi

Awards: 2009 91 points Wine Enthusiast December 2015*. Winner of Sparkling Wine Of Italy at the 2015 Wine Oscars in Rome, Robert Parker 91 points, Gambero Rosso 2 bicchieri

*Kerin O’Keefe of Wine Enthusiast said: Creamy, fresh and delicately scented, this lovely sparkler opens with a fragrance of pressed yellow flowers, mango and a hint of flint. The elegantly structured palate offers nectarine zest, white peach, mineral and a honeyed note are accompanied by bright acidity.

“Opens to pretty floral intensity that plays forward slowly with a delicate touch. It spreads over the palate like the wave of a magic wand. White peach, dried herb and dusty mineral make up the bouquet. The mouthfeel is far sharper with tonic and bright effervescence.”
